@ OrphanCrow and steve2:
Fair points. It's never a bad thing to have differing viewpoints. Growing up, most of us weren't allowed to have any.
my wife found this 1/4 page ad on page 2 of yesterday's nj star-ledger, probably the biggest newspaper in nj.
pretty telling.. .

Does anyone even read newspapers anymore? I hate to say it, but unless the media REALLY latches on to the evils of the org, not a whole lot is going to happen. Reporting on it every now and then or posting a few lawyer ads in newspapers isn't going to cut it. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm just being realistic.
my mom, while pregnant with me, was one of thousands of jw volunteers to work on the construction of this once beautiful assembly hall in south florida circa 1984. it had a beautiful pond, waterfall, and even a resident alligator.
many remember it as well for it's huge plaster murals on the walls showing scenes of paradises.. pics as it was before (sorry for the low quality, struggled to find good pics of the auditorium as it was, if you have any good ones, do share them):.

12M sounds like a nice little profit.

Does anyone know how much the org sold it for?
this really annoyed me towards the end.
the watchtower doesn't do its members any favors by frequently warning about stumbling and offending each other.
it's no surprise that this becomes a cult control tactic where you can't even groom yourself the way you want because it might be "cause for stumbling".. with so much emphasis, it became wussification and contributed to the toxic environment of jehovah's witnesses.

Giving money is only thrilling if it is not yours to give.
i am not talking about the one that the org came out with in 2010. i am talking about a new one that just came out.
it is completely different or is it just the 135 songs from the 2010 songbook plus the 16 that they have rolled out since then?
my head is spinning!.
When do you think they will come out with a REVISED revised NWT?

@ scratchme1010:
My point is that they just came out with a new one 7 years ago. Almost immediately, they started adding additional songs. I just have to wonder why. Like Sanchy said, apparently it is more of a revised songbook as opposed to a new one.
Same bad songs, I guess.

recently attended a special assembly day.. guest speaker was thomas chicky, a member of the us branch committee and the head of the us ldc (which has replaced the rbcs).. the last talk of the day is scheduled for an hour.
it was the usual boring mumbo-jumbo.
he appeared to have blasted through his hour-long outline in just about 45 minutes, so he "treated" us to informal comments on recent developments.. he commented on the new wt complex in fishkill ny.. then he dropped the bomb (well, to anyone with ears and at least 2 functioning synapses).. the following is not a word for quote, but presents the gist of his comments:.
